Things to Do

Outdoor Activities

Port Elliot has some beautiful places to visit, including local cafes, stunning beaches, scenic boardwalks, and breathtaking ocean views.

There are lots of outdoor activities to do on the South Coast. This area is particularly well known for it’s beaches, especially Port Elliot’s Horseshoe Bay, which is very popular. Horseshoe Bay is surrounded by two playgrounds and BBQ facilities, as well as a restaurant and kiosk offering a range of foods and drinks, allowing for a whole day to be spent at the beach.

There are ranges of walkways around the coastline, which allow for great sight seeing. There is a bike track from Port Elliot to Goolwa along the coastline. During the winter months it is possible to go whale watching at Middleton where the whales annually visit. Going fishing is another popular activity on the South Coast with a range of different locations and jetties to choose from. The Steam Train runs at particular times throughout the year also along the coastline, from Goolwa to Victor Harbor.

Horseshoe Bay

This is a great beach for the whole family and is known for its safe swimming with lifesavers regularly on watch. In summer the beach is packed with people both on the sand and in the water. It is a great place for swimming, body boarding, and fishing.
